Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park (GWK) is a cultural park complex covering an area of ± 60 ha with a statue of Garuda and Vishnu as the main object that has a height if it has been about 120 meters with a wingspan of Garuda about 60 meters and will make it the largest sculpture in the world. Although not 100% completed yet this cultural park complex has presented a very complete integrated tour that presents Bali thoroughly. Beginning in 1997 and operating in 2003, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is managed by PT Alam Sutera Realty, one of the leading property companies in Indonesia.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana itself was initiated by Mr. I Nyoman Nuarta, he is one of the famous sculpture artists in Indonesia. the idea of a GWK statue is taken from the story of Sacrifice, Courage, and Honor of the Garuda. for his actions he was then given the honor by Lord Vishnu as his vehicle, elevated to God, Eternal Life and appointed king of all birds on earth.
After discussing the origin and history of GWK let's take a closer look at this cultural park complex in more detail. Because it is built with good planning, once you enter the GWK area, the grandeur of you will feel like a park and various types of building structures of high artistic value. Entering the new GWK tourist area you will find many other extraordinary things where the cultural park is used as the right place for an integrated cultural park, especially about Bali.
Because Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) tourist area is very wide you do not need to rush to see directly the statue of his GWK because there are many things you can see here. Take a walk around the complex from corner to corner, Once satisfied then step your foot to the main object of this tour is the statue of Garuda and Vishnu located at the top. By looking at the half-finished statues you will be amazed and can not imagine how majestic later if the statues are perfectly arranged, enjoy every detail curve on the statue, you will immediately know if the artist who makes this statue is a world-class artist .
As for some other supporting facilities I can say is complete, starting shopping center, Amphitheater, Street Theater, Beautiful Garden to relax, Restaurant, Art Gallery and Cendramata Shop. Everything is ready to serve you so you do not need to be confused again for the convenience of facilities. In addition to the facilities do not forget also at certain hours of your visit will be served by a variety of dance performances and Balinese music, such as Barong dance, Kecak Dance, Ballet, and also traditional Balinese music performances.
How, quite complete is not. and make Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park become one of your mandatory tourist attraction when traveling to Bali and make your tour more perfect. Hopefully Helpful, Happy Traveling and Enjoy Bali.

Balangan Beach is one of Bali’s most popular and most scenic, featuring a gorgeous half-kilometre stretch of golden sand bordered between vegetated limestone cliffs and a reef with one of the longest left-hander breaks on the island. This surfing paradise attracts wave riders from around the world. Balangan Beach shares the same vicinity as Dreamland, set only a kilometre apart and separated by a small headland that serves as the famous signature Hole 15 of the New Kuta Golf Course, from where players get the best bird’s eye-view over both beaches and the ocean horizon. Getting there is effortless thanks to clearly marked signposts bearing names and directions. At its end is the main entrance, and parking fees range between IDR 2,000 and 5,000 for motorcycles and cars.
The beach is only a dozen steps down from the cliff, but it’s a good idea to head up the hills beforehand and take a peek from the vantage point for great panoramic angles. The golden stretch of sand meets the vast blue ocean, and you can see from afar the surfers having fun in the breaks. Those into photography will love to linger on for the dramatic sunsets from above.
It is swimmable here, but bear in mind it’s a predominantly a surfer’s playground. There are no lifeguards on duty. Several thatch-roofed and stilt terrace warungs (traditional food stalls selling simple meals, snacks and refreshments) and cafes dot the eastern side of coastline, where surfers usually ‘refuel’ in between their thrills. Best time to come with a surfboard if you’re a pro is around the dry season (between May and September) when south-westerly winds create from 2.5ft up to 10-feet swells which can roll on for a good 500 metres.
Non-surfers can simply enjoy the view and the coast itself, with parasol-shaded beach beds available for rent, or you can simply bask under the sun, and bury yourself in the soft sand. At low tide, the reef near the limestone cliffs reveal exotic seaweed covered rock formations and pools, offering even more dramatic sunset angles. Great budget accommodations are available around Balangan Beach, such as the Balangan Garden Bungalow and the Balangan Cottage, which each feature rustic styling with modern amenities.
Pandawa Beach, locally referred to as ‘Pantai Pandawa’, is a great addition to Bali’s collection of gorgeous beaches, located on Bali’s southern Bukit Peninsula. The fine, one-kilometre coastal stretch is located in the village of Kutuh, only five kilometres west from the Samabe Bali Suites & Villas and eight kilometres south from the main hub of the BTDC complex in Nusa Dua. ‘Hidden’ behind large carved limestone cliffs that reveal wide views to the Indian Ocean, Pandawa Beach was once also dubbed as ‘Secret Beach’ and it was officially opened in 2012, fast-gaining popularity among local weekenders and international visitors.
Besides its impressive natural sea panorama of white sand, blue sky and surf, Pandawa Beach is also best known for its impressive terrain and manmade limestone features that serve as a one-of-a-kind welcome into this coastal area. Huge cliffs were cut through to make way for its winding and smooth asphalt roads which lead down to the beach. The sides remained as high walls, while the ocean-facing cliffs midway down the slope feature deeply carved arches installed with large statues. They each depict the hero characters from the Mahabharata epic, known as Pandawa Lima or the ‘five Pandawas’, hence the name of the beach.
There are six white stone statues draped in colourful Balinese waistcloths, namely Dewi Kunti, the mother figure from the epic, and the five heroes: Dharmawangsa (also known by the name Yudhistira), Bima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadewa. A single empty arch seems to make way for another planned character, either the heroes’ father, Pandu, or his second wife, Madri. You can have great photo opportunities here, both against the giants and to the picturesque distant horizon and the stretch of Pandawa Beach 250m down from this vantage point
The road from here branches in two directions toward two different sections of Pandawa Beach. The eastern part comprises local stalls selling snacks and refreshments, and its parasol-shaded sun beds line the coast. This area is a little rugged due to the large rocks along the sand, most likely rubble from the prior road construction through the cliffs. The western counterpart, however, features a cleaner and longer stretch of sand, with various water sport activities and gear rentals, cafes, and stalls serving anything from grilled seafood and local cuisine to sandwiches and burgers.
The water at Pandawa Beach, as with most of Bali’s southern coastline, is an exotic combination of blue and green, as local seaweed farmers still tend to their patches along these coasts. On clear days with mild winds, it is a great place to swim, or you can hire a sea kayak, don some life vests and paddle out for fun, and even grab a surfboard to catch a wave beyond the reef breaks (swells are usually consistent with the strongest southern ocean currents moving out in unpredictable directions, so it is strictly for advanced surfers). Easily, this is one of the far-flung and exotic beaches to retreat to on your Bali holiday.
